The Ramada Conference Centre Edmonton gets $8 million facelift - helps position Edmonton as conference destination
Edmonton, AB (September 9, 2008) –The Ramada Conference Centre Edmonton, the city’s largest hotel and conference facility, has completed the first stage of its $8-million renovation.
The facelift of the 428-guestroom hotel, located just north of downtown near the city’s municipal airport, started in April this year. The renovations include a major refreshing of the décor in the guest rooms, lobby and conference facilities.
The majority of the guest rooms incorporate warm colours, including golds, blues and beiges, accompanied by maple wood accents. The refreshed rooms also include new artwork, lighting, large desks with comfortable ergonomic chairs, luxurious bedding and granite countertops as well as new furniture and 37-inch flat screen TVs in some rooms, with more to follow.
The lobby received new carpeting and a welcoming front desk with new guest reception furniture. For the conference facilities, the main ballroom, which offers 10,000 square feet of pillar-free convention space, also received a new look with fresh paint, a new dance floor and new carpeting.
The hotel restaurant has also changed Julies Bistro is now botaniCa Restaurant with new decor, a new menu featuring local flavours, and art work by local artist Catherine Abel.
“I’m thrilled with the renovations so far,” says General Manager of The Ramada Conference Centre George Marine. “This hotel has a lot of history in the city - everyone in Edmonton has a connection with the Ramada and we can’t wait to showcase our fresh new look.”
Kingsway Business Association Executive Director Karon Kosof is also excited about the renovations. “The City of Edmonton is really positioning itself as a conference destination. I believe the investment the Ramada Conference Centre Edmonton is making in these renovations will go a long way toward helping us attract more conferences and tourists. We look forward to this, as well as to the new business it will bring into the city and the Kingsway area.”
The next stage of the renovations will include exterior work, including paint and new carport, and additional interior work, including new elevators, hallway carpets and guest room furniture. It’s expected to be finished next spring.
